Durham School of the Arts Giving Campaign 2020
Your donations are particularly important this year, as our teachers and students have so many unexpected needs.  For example, the PTSA is hoping to fund hardware and software to support remote learning now, and later to provide an inventory of cleaning supplies for a safe return to school.
Donations to the PTSA are tax deductible and help fund projects and events all year long.

Become a PTSA member and join our mission to be a powerful voice for all students, a relevant resource for families, and strong advocates for the education and well-being of every child and their teachers.
Purchase a membership for $5.

Statement by DSA PTSA on Racial Inequity and Injustice in America

The Durham School of the Arts PTSA stands with the National PTA in their statement
condemning the inequitable and brutal treatment of all Black people in this country. We stand
with other community members in our belief that the work of challenging and dismantling the
systemic racism embedded in the very fabric of our society is critically necessary. And we
reassert our commitment to anti-racist education efforts, as well as efforts to transform
disciplinary practices to a restorative justice model and efforts to increase access to advanced
academics for all non-white students.

Although it is the ongoing mission and goal of the DSA PTSA to support ALL the students who
attend our school, we recognize that there are specific needs of Black students that must be
called out and advocated for through the Parents of African American Children (PAAC) because
the impact of 400 years of unequal and targeted treatment leads to unequal and unjust
policies, even in our schools. Yet changing racial inequity and injustice requires the DSA PTSA to
go beyond the advocacy of one committee and be deliberate in all we do to advance the
policies and practices that will contribute to a more just society. We are committed to doing
this work and welcome participation by all who wish to join us.
